Panicking

There I was. Right after the friends dance, in the quick change room. Tieing ribbons and hair pieces. Jewel was the quickest to change and she was ready to dance for the dream scene. Me, Mckenzie, Makayla, Kayla, and Carrisa hoping that we would make the quick change. Then we heard a familiar sound. The song to our dance. To Be Continued.

Ice show

I went to see Meryl Davis. It was so cool. Charlie white lingering her off if the crystal ground. And when they came to a sharp turn it a glide, the crystal ground turned to diamond flakes. The tricks weren't like the ones you see at the circus. It was more than that. Like looking at someone trust someone else. It was nerve wracking to see the female preparing herself to fly in the air with the male ice dancer behind her. From Meryl and Charlie, to the Canadian ice champions, they were all amazing. And my one question is: all on ice?

Christmas Guinea pig (poem)

Yes! I'm finally getting a guinea pig!!!
Her name will be Lucy and she will be
Black and brown.
I'm getting her for Christmas
And she will have a nice cage and toys.
I'm very excited to get her.
This will be the best Christmas ever!

Just let go!

I looked down nervously. 65 feet up, 70 feet across. I felt tears rolling down my cheeks.
" it's ok Nia, just let go!" Matt told me. Matt cheered everyone on. He has the best day counceler I ever had. I closed my eyes and heard all my friends at the bottom of the zip line cheering for me.
" c'mon Nia! You can do it! Just jump, you'll feel better! " they shouted. Opened my eyes and looked down the line, and into the horizon. I suddenly felt my feet lift off of the plank. There was nothing I could do to go back, so I let go. I flew with the birds. It was like galloping through the air, like a horse in the fields. I came to the slope and glided through the  blue afternoon sky and came to a stop. Like stopping a dream. Jenny, another counceler, unhooked me from the line and I climbed down the ladder with excitement. All my friends gathered around me and patted me on the back.
"Nia that was awesome! How weren't you scared?!" They questioned. And All I said was, " I let go."

Published Piece

I searched through the water in fear, in confusion. My mom had just told my uncle, who was leading the canoe that my cousin Jamil had just fallen in the water. Usually it would be no big deal that someone fell in; it would actually be kind of funny. But this time it wasn't. Jamil fell in without a life jacket, and when my brother and cousin, who was in the canoe with him, tried to throw the sitting mats at him so he could get pulled in. But he was too busy panicking because he fell in 15 feet of water. When he panicked he soon got tired and went under. I could hear my brother screech in fear from a mile away. My uncle and my other cousin, Cidni, rowed so fast the boat rocked back and forth. When we got to the site where he fell, my uncle bolted into the water with his clothes on, pushing water back and looking for him with his eyes wide open. Then he screamed as if he had seen a ghost.

False alarm. It was a stick floating in the water. After I recovered  from my heart dropping of fear, I saw my aunt, my uncle, my mom and my brother and cousin. When my brother Khalil arrived at the bank In a canoe with everyone else, he had tears dripping from his eyes and seemed panicked.
" he's gonna die, he's gonna die!" He repeated. The tears trickled down his chocolate skin and dripped into the warm sand.
" he'll be fine, someone's going to find him." I said as I rubbed his back to make him feel calm. We sat there in silence with cidni and my other cousin Donovan. We sat there for longtime as the adults in the family canoed all over the river asking if they had seen a teenager in the water. Then that's when my brother announced,
" cold water conversion! He'll live if the water's cold enough to wake him up." Khalil ran down to the shallow part of the water getting his shoes and pants soaked. Khalil dipped his finger in the water to feel the shining gray water. He trudged back up the bank with glassy eyes. I could already tell that the water wasn't where it needed to be.

And that's what was happening. My mom returned along with my uncles, aunts and  my uncles girlfriend. They pulled up on the rest spot and immediately dialed 911. There was another lady on the spot with her older kids. She asked what happened and my mom said, " one of my little cousins fell out of his canoe and he didn't get out! Please call the police."
" oh that's horrible! I'm on it right now... Hello! A woman at the Oscoda boating river has lost one of her little cousins in the water! He hasn't come up and we don't know where he is!" She explained.
I could hear everything because she put her phone on speaker and still decided to yell into the phone.
" ok we're sending the underwater ambulance right now! But does this kid know how to swim?" They asked.
" HE COULD BE DYING AND YOU WANT TO KNOW IF HE CAN SWIM!?! IT DOESN'T MATTER IF HE CAN SWIM, IT MATTERS IF HE CAN BE SAVED IN A MATTER IF FIVE MINUTES!" She screamed then her slammed her finger on the end button.

I heard the adults talking to Police, doctors and the manager of the river. There was lots of yelling and panicking. Instead of yelling, why not be trying to SAVE HIM!! I thought angrily. About ten minutes later I heard the sound of a motor boat and sirens. they really came! There gonna save him! I thought. They pulled up in the rest spot talking to my mom and uncle about what had happend. Then my mom and my uncle Gary got in the boat and vanished into the fog.

Hours later something came out of the fog, it was the motor boat. My mom and uncle jumped out of the boat and sat next to us. The police in the boat stood up, but remained inside.
“Well, they found him two miles downstream than where he had fallen. His foot was also stuck in a tree which was probably why he didn’t come up.”

When we got back to the cabins the kids were told to go outside while the adults talked. I thought about what happened at the river and if I could have done something. Minutes later the kids were invited into the main cottage and sat down.
" Now this is why we are suppose to be safe in the water." My mom explained. " Jamil died about 45 minutes ago due to failing CPR." Her voice trailed off. Eric, which is Jamil's dad sat in the corner of the couch until we all stood up and prayed. I prayed that he would make a safe way to heaven and that we he would see his grandmother up there with him. We packed up the cars and went home with no extra conversations, left the cabin site and drove home in silence.

The moral of my story would be not to panic in a bad situation. If you do, it gets you no where but trouble. But at the same time, the moral is that the people who die are not gone, there time on earth was just short. They will always be around, watching over you.

Whoa!

So does everyone know that the people you follow on blogger you can see there stories on your dashboard? well if you didn't, now you do. So i was reading Teresa's story because that was the first story that popped up. Apparently, when we were at the Character Education  Conference and Teresa had to sing the project cope song, she was nervous! But even when she was nervous, she didn't chicken out like i would have done. She showed everyone that she could do what some people said she couldn't do which as sing in front of a live audience. It was cool seeing someone you know and be proud of them because they accomplished something HUGE.

BE AWARE!!!

Sometimes... I mean ALL THE TIME, i should be more aware of what I'm doing. Like jut 10 minutes ago i spilled all of my nerds on my carpet and had to pick up all 73 of them one by one. The reason i spilled them was a good reason. I was flipping. Okay, i know that sounds like the worst excuse, but it wasn't half as bad as if i didn't have on my "caution could flip at any time" necklace!

Think... Word count 200

It's not the muscles that make me strong. It's not the sports that make me strong. It's in my mind. I’m mentally strong, which makes me even stronger than others, even if they have the athletics, and the muscles. I’m like an elephant, Elephants are big, but that's not all they know. They know that they could crush a baby cheetah, easily. But they know they can go beyond just the crushing just because there big and it's small. They take advantage of their mind, and how large it is. Elephants choose to think unlike the king of the jungle, which will attack without being aware of what they are doing. I have to protect myself, but I will not attack just because I know that I’m capable. I will think and be mentally strong to throw the bad things out of my mind.

I learn to remember, and how some bad things are good. My cousin’s death was bad, but he was a good person. Whenever I choose to think of him, I think of his death. It’s good I think of his death so I can think of him. TO BE CONTINUED…

AWH (in school)

Eric screamed and dropped my iPad in fear. Foxy killed him again. During lunch today me, Eric, Thomas, Vivian, Megan, Ania, Aria and Jordyn sat in mrs. Roberts room. after we finished our school project, we decided to play five nights at Freddy's. five nights at Freddy's is a game. where you are a security guard for a pizzeria. there are these Robots that used to sing at parties like the things at chucky cheese. the thing is they got old and stopped working. Apparently the robots didn't like that, now the robots came alive and are trying to kill the security guard at night. there are five nights that you  have to survive but there are two extra nights for after you've completed five. I was so close to night five until one of the robots foxy came from one of the hallways of the pizzeria and killed me. it startled me and Eric so much that he dropped my iPad and breathed hard with a smile on his face.
" I told you to close the door" I said with a smerk.
" but it would waste my energy."

I heard the adults talking to Police, doctors and the manager of the river. There was lots of yelling and panicking. There was pressure flying between us kids. But we know we had to relax because if we didn't, there would be lots more pressure than there already is. about ten minutes later I heard the sound of a motor boat and sirens. they really came! There gonna save him! I thought. They pulled up in the rest spot talking to my mom and uncle about what had happend. Then my mom and uncle Gart got in the boat and vanished into the fog.

Word count goal (300)

I walked through the studio and landed down in a straddle along with the other dancers. We stretched for seven minutes and then went over our dances. I worked on turning in the mirror to correct my form. I lifted me right foot into passƩ and spotted the mirror. Then a couple of other people joined me in the mini session.

All of a sudden, I heard Kennedy, the teacher in training say “ok, let’s have a little contest. Everyone line up at the bar.” She announced. We rushed to the bar in confusion.
“Now everyone but your leg into a heel stretch. Whoever lasts longest in their stretch, wins a free Gatorade.” I had to win this. Not only for the Gatorade , but to prove myself to everyone that I’m just as determined as the girls that have been there before this year.
“Six minutes. The reason for this exercise is for you to want it! You have to earn it. Other people out here just get what they want, but we have to earn it and to want to earn it!” she said in a motivating voice.

That’s when I started to feel the burn.  And I’m pretty sure other people did too. We started to moan and groan about the pain in out thighs. When our legs are up high for a long time, we start to cramp in the quad area, the hip area, and in the triceps area (from holding your leg). When that occurred, we started to get out because our legs were giving out, but not me. I was in the top three left, the bottom two. The pressure was on. It was me and chase left. We’re friends, but now it competition. We lasted 12 minutes; we beat the oldest girls in this contest! But it was still going on. Now we had to do it towards the back. TO BE CONTINUED

the great guinea pig

" But please ma! I'll keep my room clean for two months!" I begged. i had walked down stairs just in time to hear my mom talking about rodents.
" No. Guinea pigs stink, they poop everywhere and the are caged animals." she said. I had to win this debate, considering the fact that i always lost debates. I have been looking up guinea pigs for the past three months and now I was at the part where i ask for one.
" I'll clean up the cage, and ill let it explore my room. plus, i've researched the different kinds of guinea pigs. there is one called ta skinny pig and there so cute! there like ugly hairless rats but there not!" I exclaimed.
" well i don't want a ugly rat looking thing in my house."
" there only $35, and premier pet supplies could order a couple for us. And they don't shed. so its a win win situation." i said with he brightest smile on my face. my mom looked like she had  just woken up from a horrible sleep, the corner of her lips downward, her eyes slouched. and with a little breath she managed to say, " you better keep your room clean" YES!! I thought. if i kept my room clean for 2 whole months, then i get a cute hairless guinea pig. i ran upstairs, got on my computer and researched about the needs of a baby skinny pig.

The audition

my hands trembled in fear, I had to get the acrobatic roll.
"Ok, so we went over the lead roll auditions, so now it's time for cuts." mrs.Crystal announced. she called out for the jazz machine dolls one by one, " Diana, chase, Makayla, Jewel, Mckenzie, Kayla, and Nia." As she called out names we walked to the front of the crowd of the competition dance groups. we practically jumped when our mane was called. I was really exited when she called my name because this was my first year at legacy dance studio. then she called out for the Chinese Acrobat doll. I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. " Since the is a solo the person I would like to do an acrobatic routine is Nia, who has been doing gymnastics."(120)

I walked to the front again as everyone clapped and cheered for me. it was like a dream come true. have a featured roll, ON MY FIRST YEAR! even better I got a solo! this could be a good year. mrs. crystal called the other rolls for the Motown nutcracker like the skeletons, Michel, and turbo feet super action figures, ballerina toy solider, happy snowflakes, and purple snowflakes. I made the purple snowflakes, jazz machine, and the Chinese acrobat doll.(81)

" hi Nia! How are you? How are you doing with the braces? are there any problems?!"
"well I ha-"

" GOOD!" he exclaimed. seriously?!? you ask all these questions and don't even want an answer?!? I'm gonna have to talk faster. I thought. he put that napkin thingy under my chin and clipped it so it didn't fall off.(76)

literary essay

Literary Essay
have you ever been so desperate for love, that you enrolled in a French class, and made up French words to impress a girl? hopfully you haven't, but victor from the book seventh grade has. You will learn about how he can be so desperate right here!

Victor promised himself that he get Theresa to be his girl. apparently, Victor thinks that he would impress Theresa, and she would want to go out with him for something so small. Victor had to find a way to impress Theresa. He was going to be in French class with Theresa, and that have him a chance to show off. Mr.bueller asked if anyone knew French. victor raised his hand, wanting to impress Theresa. the teacher beamed and said, "tres bien. paralez-vous francais?" Victor didn't know what to say.

when victor steps up to speak French in front of the class, he feels he will impress Theresa and everything will be fine.that is until Mr.bueller asks him a question he should answer in FRENCH! Victor is speechless and doesn't know what to say. but he has to say something. so he makes up words that sound frenchie to play it off. the class grew very silent and eyes were all around him.

victor realizes that he really likes Theresa and he really wanted to impress her. it says he was "sweaty with shame" (58). He feels he failed at his attempt of getting Theresa to be his girl and that he didn't impress her. he had one problem and the same emotion - shameful that he didn't have Theresa. but they are still friends. I guess victor wanted more than that, but never got it. I would say to bad for him, but he was so brave to stand in front of class and make a good impression. that tells that he would do almost anything for Theresa.

In seventh grade, victor realizes that he would do anything for the love from Theresa. he needed some way to impress her. he is desperate for love, so he does his best to look for signs that Theresa likes him. Victor has never felt so in love, confident, and brave to say the fake French words.

Why does the earth spin?
Why does the moon grin?

tonight I had my band concert. but the thing I felt was going to be a disaster, was the boogie blues feature. my heart was half way into my throat. my stomach was filled with butterflies with monster size wings, flapping and making my stomach wave. very song we had done, we got closer to the feature. I got dizzier and dizzier, and not because it takes lots of breath for a flute and makes you feel dizzy. when we got to the feature, the butterflies in my stomach tripled and my stomach felt like a butterfly facility. then... I did it! it was perfect!! all this time i was freaking out for nothing!

8. if you were stranded on a deserted island, which charectar from the book would you like to have with you and why?

Answer: I would take Daniel because he is very cleaver. he is cleaver because when he had to steal back his dead father's solider's notes, he pretended to start a fire with smoke and hay, tell his masters that there is a fire (he is a slave), grab the notes from a secret place, hide them, and tell everyone that it was just some smoke and nothing serious. And the cool thing about all of that is that he didn't get caught! at least not for a long time. I would also take Daniel because he is smart. he is smart because he found out that he was going to be sold to the West Indies by hiding in the hay on the boat, and over hearing the captain talk to his son about how he would sell Daniel. but Daniel found a way to escape from being a slave and separated from his mother. he still had the notes and he could trade the notes for money to buy his freedom and his mother's too.

when mr.Jospeh talked to us about how he knows how African American students feel now that we express our feelings, all I thought about was my great Great great great great grandmother who lved during slavery. she was a strong black woman who never have up. just because she was a slave, doesn't mean she was ashamed of herself. her name was charity butler. she was a run away slave. she moved up north and began to make her way to victory! she owned 42 acres of land and made the bets of it! I just wish I could see her one day. I've seen pictures of her when she owned the land, I thought she would look happy that she was free, but she had a straight face in every pic. I learned that it is her culture to not smile in a picture, and that she was very happy to be free. I knew she HAD to be happy, because I saw that sparkle in her eyes. her eyes were filled with joy, even with a straight mouth and eyebrows.

AHW

Yesterday I went to the flower show at the eastern market. i went with my mom and my god mom.  I wasn't really engaged in the flowers, i was hooked on the amazing smell of elephant ears! they had a hotdog stand, phili cheese steak stand, taco stand, slushy stand, ice cream stand, and last: an elephant ear stand. i bugged my mom about the elephant ears all day. She said i could get one as long as i looked for flowers, but it was going to be hard top concentrate  on  anything with the cinnamon smell rushing to your nose! Finally i got one when we had lunch at at an outdoor cafe. i had a lot more than an elephant ear. i had a taco salad inside of a dorito bag ( the doritos were the taco bread), i also had a smoothie with avocado, lemons, lime, honey, and bananas. The last thing i ate was the elephant ear because my mom said: " you can't have a pound of sugar on sweet bread as a lunch!" But you have to save the best for last!

AHW

"Chloe, there is a rat in my room! Mom told you to clean it or you will be sleeping outside! Better start packing up!" My stuck up step sister screeched. Hi I am Chloe. I live with my step mother and my step sisters, Britney and Samantha. They are so obnoxious and self centerd they make me feel like dirt. Not saying that I didn't already feel like dirt. My dad died in the army, so I went to live with his second wife, my step mom, veronica. My mom died giving birth to my brother. But he died  two days after birth. So ever sense, I have been thinking of how happy i would be with my real family. But i don't have time for that. I have been planning on getting an acedemic scholarship to Harvard. So i have to keep my head in the game. right now im on my way to school. Veronica was convinced that having me driving in the car with dumb and dumber, would ruin their glow that took them two hours in the bathroom doing. so I'm on the bus. "hey Chloe, whatcha doing?" maddie asked me. maddie is my best friend. we have been friends since 2nd grade. now we're in 12th grade, ready to fly off on our own, to college. I wonder if we will make it through college together. "oh nothin, just day dreaming" I reply. "well, don't sit there! what were you dreaming about?!" I look away trying not to reveal the secret with a clear tone. "the Halloween dance." I muffle into my jacket. "why? it's just a dance. it's not like anybody will ask you to go. the bus comes to a complete stop. i grab my backpack and race off of the bus, trying to ignore maddie's stupid comment. maddie drags behind, trying to stop me. " Chloe. chloe! it's not a big deal. it's just a stupid high school dance. nobody likes us. we're not popular. you have to exept that." I stop and turn around. " So because we're not popular, we can't have a good time at a party?! if that's what your trying to say, then I'm not talking to you for a long while!" maddie turns a bright red in her cheeks. "FINE! if you want to learn the hard way, so be it!"
I didn't know what to do with maddie. she is always so contrary. she never understands what it would be like in my shoes. how hard it is to live with my family. I thought friends were always there to understand you and comfort you. maybe maddie isn't my friend. But I can't say that to her! she would be devastated. luckily I have one more actual friend. his name is Brian. he is like the brother I've never had. literally. he's awesome! every Tuesday we go to ramby's resturaunt to get smoothies. I bet rambling rasberry berry, and he gets lucky peanut piƱa colada pineapple with a hint of mustard. it sounds as gross as a sewer rat. I've never tried it because I was scared I would wake up in the emergency room getting my stomach pumped! so I stick to the usual. thankfully, it was Tuesday. today was another fun day with my REAL friend that would never be so negative. I walked up to an open locker with a giant scratch through the door of it. I knew it was Brian's locker because I've memorized the image of the steak knife stabbing through the locker, when it was suppose to go into Brian.
"HI! whacha doin?!" I exclaimed. he jumped up and papers and folders flew. "geez! you scared the livening livers out of me!" he said in such horror. To bad for me and him, Sam, my clueless sister, was only one locker down from Brian. we laughed together from Brian's shock, and Sam was just eye balling us for the longest. I knew she was always spying on us, to see anything going on between us. but she was just paranoid. she's paranoid of me getting an actual... what's the word...oh yeah, a LIFE before she does. which I will because I will go to Harvard and be the one to create a cure for cancer and be famous and successful for my courageous action! plus, marry Taylor laughner. it's been a wierd dream.
