Chapter 4: Finding Out

I can't believe what is happening right now. I can't understand why i did that. I can't even thing straight. We sit in darkness and the only noise is the sounds of hard breathing.

" Is it really you?" he says between breaths. I freeze. How can I answer that? Yeah, sure! I'm just gonna tell the enemy that I'm who he's looking for! NOT. what else can I say though?

"What are you talking about? who are yo-

" YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR! HAND IT OVER NOW OR THERE WILL BE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES!" He scream-whispers. I can't tell you how much he sounds like the average mother of  teenager. But I also can't tell you how afraid I am. He ACTUALLY found me.

" Its somewhere you'll never find it. I'm never handing it over and I'm not escaping anymore from you." I whisper. quickly I scooch over to the closet door and twist the knob as hard as possible. Locked. Then I hear shuffles of feet and feel my books slap to the ground. There is limited room to run and try to get out of this mess. I move around the closet avoiding the steps of the person attacking me. I feel him grab my arm tightly and his grip getting tighter.

" This doesn't have to happen. Just give me the grains of dust." he begs.
" If this doesn't have to happen, then don't let it. Just don't follow the orders you are given, be better than...this." Henry lets go of my arm and sits. I heard the thump of him sitting. I find the light and flick it on. He is crying. I take off my hood.

Today my when was about to go to school my mom told me that I was off the waiting list for New York! I can't wait to g and this will be my second time going out of town with my school. And around the same time as last time! Halloween!!!! This will be exciting to go to the big apple 

chapter 2 part 2

   

“Sorry mom, I can’t be late. Like you said, first day!” I said hesitantly. I grabbed my new school bag and rushed my way to the door. I don’t need my mom making me late… or serving me pancakes. I’m in high school. I can do it myself.

Suddenly, “Are you sure you don’t want any? They’re really good!”

“I’m fine mom, I can just walk past Starbucks or something.” I said annoyed. Although I lived on a whole other planet, that didn’t mean that I didn’t know all of the teen trends. I’m not an alien to teenage life!

“Well, Ok! Be safe.” She yelled out as I walked at a fast pace, trying to get away from my social life murderer.

When I walked out of the Starbucks with all of its smells of fresh bread and espresso, I looked across the street and there I saw: “RINGWOOD HIGH SCHOOL. HOME OF THE WILDCATS!” This is unbelievable. I am about to start a new everything! The past is in the trash. My dream is a reality. My life is about to change… Rapidly.

Chapter 3:part 2

" what do ya know! I got Jamison too. And I have locker 168!" I sigh. This couldn't get better..." I say under my breath. How could he not recognize me?! Maybe that's a good thing. Well I have to go before he realizes who I really am.

I walk at a faster pace to my locker so I won't have to make eye contact with the enemy. Once at my locker, I shove everything in the space that I have. Right when i am about to shut the door and practically run to my first hour class, I see a pen at the floor of my lower cubby hole. But not just red pen used for correcting the mistakes of students. A beautiful pen with a small compartment filled with dark blue substance. Suddenly, I hear the sound of two delinquent boys coming my way. Geez, how does Henry make friends that fast? Maybe with his little mind games that he uses on everyone he knows. I pick up the pen and begin to shut the locker door in fear of him and his clique seeing me. Then I realize: my door shuts on his side. What do I do? Just face your fear of being captured and sent back to your home to be...well I don't know what I'll be! I just slam the locker door anyway with my head down and began to walk to class.

"Hey! Girl! You!" I heard someone yell out right when i reached the classroom door. I looked up at the clock for the second time today, for a similar reason. 8:26. Sure, I have enough time to  talk... BUT NOT WITH HIM!!! Henry starts to walk over to me and away from his group of animal like friend.

"Hey, I didn't catch your name. I'm Henry by the way. Freshman, First day."
I hesitated. If he really knew my name, I'd blow my cover. But I can't live knowing that I have a fake identity because I am a wimp.

" Alana Burch. Freshman, first day, too." Oh god! What did I get myself into! Well time to say my goodb--- My train of though is cut off by the feeling of someone pulling my somewhere. Then I hear a door shut. The pulling has stopped.

Chapter 3: Finding Everything

     Whoa! This place is huge! I didn’t know whether to run about or stay true to my self promise: Keep it on the down low. I choose the second one. I don’t have time to be wondering around a place that I would be trapped in for FOUR years. I put on my American eagle hoodie I got for back to school shopping. I could tell where I was going because my eyes were barely covered for that purpose. I made my way to the desk where I could get my locker when I think I saw my life end before my eyes. The Black Forest king has two sons and a daughter. One of his sons, Henry is very loyal to his father. Apparently so loyal that he flew here to capture me and send me back to Korey for my "Ultimate Death". Henry and I are pretty much the same. We both turn out to be 9th graders, and we both turned out to go to the same high school. Oh gosh. We end up at the same directory table and get our locker number, and teacher at the same time. Now my hoodie is. So far over my face, all I see is the American eagle logo on the outside of my hood. 

"Man oh man, I got locker 167 and mrs. Jamison. What about you?" He turns his head in my direction. Is he talking to me? My stomach knots up like a rope.

"Uh," my voice cracks.

   

Chapter 2: First Day

     " C'mon sweetie, time to wake up. First day at Earth school!" My mom exclaimed. She was right. Today was the day that depended all the other one's.

 My family got away with me when I took the sacred grains of black dust. The knights are looking for them too, to track me down from them. But we saw it coming and they escaped at the last minute. 

 

I jumped out of bed, excited but nervous. What would the kids think of me? I have to set a low profile. Don't get into trouble. Don't be known. Almost invisible. 

" What to wear? Sweats? Nah, too relaxed. Skirt? Oh gosh no! Too fancy. How about this?" I pushed all of the other unimportant clothing out of the way in my closet. There lay a regular outfit. Jeans and sweatshirt. Not too high of a profile. 

I walked down the stairs trying not to wake up my little sister, Kylie. Kylie is five and clueless. My parents told her that we moved to get a better life, which was true but in clueless five year old form. Kylie hasn't really developed fairy abilities. Like fast reflexes and all the mind tricks. Also teleportation, well, I haven't even developed that. Only mom and grandma Soph have. Only females can do that. Male faires pretty much do nothing, as usual. 

"Honey I made you pancakes for your first day! Eat up." I inched to the clock and looked sideways. 8:00. Only 30 minutes until my life is in the hands of a new world. 

 

Rise: chapter 1

I’m Alana Burch. I am now a 9th grader at Ringwood high. My secret: I am a fairy. Not the ones you see in the commercials with beautiful wings. The one that is most wanted in the Black Forest kingdom On the Planet of Korey. I have started a new life, as fairy- free as possible. It will help me get away from the Black knights that are destroying my home planet to find me. I have what they need. The last grains of black dust in the Black Forest. They need it enable to keep the evil kingdom from shutting down and disappearing from the forest.  It is my mission as a disguised as a normal girl from New Hampshire that is just really attached to her pen she got from her dad in the navy, to save my planet and everything else from the darkness of evil. Today is my first day. Here I go.

My back

I felt like a grandma when I got out of my bed today. My back is killing me! I think I hurt it in dance practice when I did an acrobatic move. But I'm ok!!

for spring break I'm going to the mall with my friends. Then we're going to the movies to see the DUFF! I'm also celebrating my birthday that's why I'm going shopping. After the movie some of my friends might get to sleep over my house.

In engage we do photo editing and my partner is Tate. He has three oicures: one that he is blue and has big eyes and a wide mouth, one which he has orange hair, and one where he is flooding in water. I have one that has me in the dark but i am very bright and im doing a leg stretch

Today we looked at different photo editor apps and i found a really good one that made me look like i was in an old movie. It was cool to sdit photos and i can't wait until my final product!

"In 5th place in the junior jazz 9-11 category goes to... 2 of you! Legacy dance studio!" I was so devastated. I didn't know what to do but scream. We worked so hard on that dance for 5th place? I walked up to the front of the stage and received the stupid plauqe. 

When the top 5 went to sit down, it was time for the Oddessy and first place for junior megalime. 

" first place goes to..." I friend my teeth together and crosses my finger so tight. 

" Espianage! Legacy dance studio!" I was so excited. This was a great start of my compitition season.

At the hall

I Danced at the DSO for the james tatum foundation to honor james tatum and the prodigys of his foundation. It was all goung welk untik someone almost fell off of stage because we had to move upwatd making sure not to block the live singer. I was running off stage when kayle tripped and was on the very edge, balancing carefully then got back on the full stage and ran off with the stage with the rest of us.

Depending on how you look at it, you would think Auggie Pullman was a kid with a messed up face, and how he was made fun of.( a kid being bullied) When I read Wonder my R.J Palacio, I thought on another level of reading.( someone being interested in a book). In my mind, Auggie is a 5^th grade kid who goes through bullying, labels, and humiliation. You would think that the theme is just it doesn’t matter what you look like. Although that could be true, I'm reading on anther level, remeber? But I think the theme is be proud of who you are because you must matter to yourself.(a proud badge). Auggie shouldn’t let others make him feel insecure. If everyone was nicer and kind, he wouldn’t have to. But throughout this story, he will face hard moments and moments where he is encouraged to feel proud of who he is. ( a pic of a hill to describe his ups and downs). 

Throughout the story, Auggie faces people who put labels on his back because of his face.(mean labels). For example, on page 119, it says in summer’s words "Some kids ask have actually come out and asked me why I hang out with 'the freak' so much." This shows that people put labels on you just because of how you look.( a kid looking at himself and his apperance.) If they cared about who you are on the inside, Auggie would be liked by a lot of people.(A popular kid) This connects to the real world because some people care about what you’re wearing and what you look like enable to be your friend. No one realizes that the nicest people are the people who don’t care what you wear or if you have a facial deformity.( a kid being nice) I think if everyone was a kind and as caring as Summer, Auggie wouldn’t have to feel slightly insecure. He is drifting away from being proud of himself because of what other people think of him and what he looks like.( a kid drifting away)


Also in the story, he faces bullying because of how he looks.(a big bully) In the book on page 266 the boy Eddie and his friends say " I don't think you want to mess with me, you ugly freak." Not only was Eddie bullying Auggie, he pushed Jack to the ground hard.(someone being pushed really hard) This shows that Eddie was only messing them because Auggie has a different face and Jack was friends with him.( two different kids) If Auggie had a regular face he probably wouldn't have to go through half of what he really went through. But the bright side of this, Jack was there by his side the whole time.(kids by each others' side) And even better, Miles and Henry, the kids who were mean to Auggie previously, they even stood up for him.(nice bullies) I think everyone is realizing how Auggie isn’t really who they thought he was. And now in the story, Auggie HAS to be proud of whom he is because he knows he has friends on his side and they are proud of who is.( a proud kid)


By the end of the story, Auggie has overcome the bullying and labels.( we shall overcome sign) On page 304 Mr.Tushman gives a speech about the person who received the award for Henry Ward Beecher medal and says “so will August Pullman please come up here to receive this award?" This shows that people saw Auggie and his character. He did not fight back with fists.( a kid turning the other cheek) And he didn't let people get to him. He had a hard time at first, and then everyone began to realize that he is to be judged by the content of his character.( judges)  I can connect because I am not bullied because of how I look.

Then Again, I think the theme is to be proud of who you are no matter what people think.( someone thinking) In the end, Auggie was proud and confident. His friends were over the judging and bullying.( no judge and bully zone) Everyone has changed over time and has realized who Auggie really is.( nice people) I think if anyone read Wonder, they would understand the meaning of being proud of whom you are. I think its important to read this book because it shows how people can change to adapt to difference.( make a change pic)

He had a hard time at first, and then everyone began to realize that he is to be judged by the content of his character.( judges)  I can connect because I am not bullied because of how I look.

Then Again, I think the theme is to be proud of who you are no matter what people think.( someone thinking) In the end, Auggie was proud and confident. His friends were over the judging and bullying.( no judge and bully zone) Everyone has changed over time and has realized who Auggie really is.( nice people) I think if anyone read Wonder, they would understand the meaning of being proud of whom you are. Depending on how you look at it, you would think Auggie Pullman was a kid with a messed up face, and how he was made fun of.( a kid being bullied) When I read Wonder my R.J Palacio, I thought on another level of reading.( someone being interested in a book). In my mind, Auggie is a 5^th grade kid who goes through bullying, labels, and humiliation. You would think that the theme is just it doesn’t matter what you look like. Although that could be true, I'm reading on anther level, remeber? But I think the theme is be proud of who you are because you must matter to yourself.(a proud badge). Auggie shouldn’t let others make him feel insecure. If everyone was nicer and kind, he wouldn’t have to. But throughout this story, he will face hard moments and moments where he is encouraged to feel proud of who he is. ( a pic of a hill to describe his ups and downs). 


Throughout the story, Auggie faces people who put labels on his back because of his face.(mean labels). For example, on page 119, it says in summer’s words "Some kids ask have actually come out and asked me why I hang out with 'the freak' so much." This shows that people put labels on you just because of how you look.( a kid looking at himself and his apperance.) If they cared about who you are on the inside, Auggie would be liked by a lot of people.(A popular kid) This connects to the real world because some people care about what you’re wearing and what you look like enable to be your friend. No one realizes that the nicest people are the people who don’t care what you wear or if you have a facial deformity.( a kid being nice) I think if everyone was a kind and as caring as Summer, Auggie wouldn’t have to feel slightly insecure. He is drifting away from being proud of himself because of what other people think of him and what he looks like.( a kid drifting away)



Also in the story, he faces bullying because of how he looks.(a big bully) In the book on page 266 the boy Eddie and his friends say " I don't think you want to mess with me, you ugly freak." Not only was Eddie bullying Auggie, he pushed Jack to the ground hard.(someone being pushed really hard) This shows that Eddie was only messing them because Auggie has a different face and Jack was friends with him.( two different kids) If Auggie had a regular face he probably wouldn't have to go through half of what he really went through. But the bright side of this, Jack was there by his side the whole time.(kids by each others' side) And even better, Miles and Henry, the kids who were mean to Auggie previously, they even stood up for him.(nice bullies) I think everyone is realizing how Auggie isn’t really who they thought he was. And now in the story, Auggie HAS to be proud of whom he is because he knows he has friends on his side and they are proud of who is.( a proud kid)



By the end of the story, Auggie has overcome the bullying and labels.( we shall overcome sign) On page 304 Mr.Tushman gives a speech about the person who received the award for Henry Ward Beecher medal and says “so will August Pullman please come up here to receive this award?"  August Pullman is an "ordinary kid with an extraordinary face". He lives his life with a deformed face that no one can get over. In the book Wonder R.J Palacio August or Auggie faces labels, and bullying. But in the end, he learns to overcome his facial deformities, and becomes someone who no one thought he could be. Auggie teaches me that the best revenge is being someone amazing and pushes beyond the bullies, and the anti Auggie cliques. This also teaches me to be proud of whom you are just like Auggie.

Auggie is proud of who he is. And because of that, he ended 5th grade with an award, and lots of friends that appreciate him for who he is. In the beginning of the book, everyone was “anti- Auggie". But they didn't see who he really was and now they do. He is proud of who he is.
